btp, pt 2
surgery went fine. only hitch was that when they woke me, i had this massive pain on the inside of my upper arm, right by my armpit. found out this morning that it was the tape they tightly wound around the sutures there cause they had to relocate some tendon to my shoulder from the bicep. and the shoulder nerve block didn’t cover that part of my arm.
pain today is manageable, once i eat in a couple hours, i’ll take my 800 mg motrin and start moving the shoulder around, gently (the instructions allow it!). sarah has been a wonderful caretaker — so lucky to have her here. already walked boba and now just sitting up typing with one hand. no oxy, even though i have the meds here — pain isn’t bad enough for it.
ok. a few hours later and the nerve block has worn off and i’m in pain. it hurts. a lot. but i know this is probably the worst of it, downed a single little oxy — both the relief and cause of pain for so many people. the instructions said i could do some pendulum movements with that arm, so i’m counting it as a win that i was out of the sling and bending over with my arm hanging out of the sling for a few minutes. a step back to the ice.
and otherwise, i’m just sitting around. come on over. ;-)
