turks & caicos & 23 years ago today
so 23 years ago today, i was in holy cross hospital with scott and nurses and my ob/gyn, and mom and dad and aaron in the waiting room. and we pushed for hours and hours cause i didn’t want to have a c-section. don’t remember why that was so important to me at the time. but mo fought it. they just wanted to stay in my warm, comfy uterus. finally, during the 4 o’clock hour, the vacuum and forceps and helga the nurse and tons of drugs helped me push mo out into the world. and today, aside from working toward an architecture degree, mo brings equity and good to others through mutual aid, urban gardening, and hot dinners for those in need. they have grown into a caring, intelligent, independent non-binary person, always ready to laugh and to argue about their beliefs. twenty three years. geez. happy birthday to my first baby.
last week, marxe and i tripped to turks & caicos, and here’s the travel log. can be more specific with photos and placement in a created document (than on a blog) so there it is. beautiful place. hot, humid, tropical, and wonderful ocean breezes with perfect temp water. really nice people. lots of rum punch. ahhh.
and look at this gorgeous hibiscus growing in my backyard. whoo!
