guys are actually wiping down their gym equipment!

rare, but today at the gym, i actually saw four different men wiping down their equipment. the atlantic put out a cancel-everything article. old white men are worried. must be serious, then.

catching coronavirus — eh. if i get it, i deal with it. don’t mean to belittle this, but it’s a virus, not the plague. feel like i can handle it, even if it makes me miserably sick for a few weeks. what i cannot handle is our chicken-with-its-head-cut-off president. the CDC says one thing, he says another. he worries about the optics and “numbers” instead of lives and social well-being. what a dick.

avoid non-essential travel to some countries, ok. got it. england isn’t one of them, which is where marxe and i are scheduled to go in 11 days. however, our government is so broken right now that i AM a little worried they will close the borders. seems completely crazy, right? but trump is completely crazy. he doesn’t listen to science or rational reasoning.

this could all be over by next weekend, and so i’m not extra level worried but it does feel as if i have a decision to make. i have time, i know. am i fooling myself? it’s a flu, that — just like the regular flu — affects the elderly and immune compromised negatively, right? people like my mom and dad need to be extra cautious. most everyone else gets sick and then gets better. need to think about others here, i get that. but people are acting crazy. emptying store shelves of toilet paper. geez. the world is not ending. it’s a virus.

then again, maybe they’re stocking up because our government is so volatile, not because of the virus. we have no idea what trump will do, which leads to a lack of trust in government. sure, remaining CDC people (yes, trump DID fire the US pandemic response team two years ago) are smart and science based but our president says stuff that has nothing to do with that reality, which, because he’s president and people won’t stand up to him, gets implemented anyway. so yeah, for me it’s become more a question of what they will do instead of what i will get.

in other news, here’s a really pretty spring daffodil blooming a couple houses down.
