daddy

“the day daddy died, i didn’t cry much. i flew. west from the world’s other side. for three hours of it, we followed the sunset. his energy, his essence, has been returned to this world in another form. and it’s beautiful.”

we had arrived in zanzibar about 10 hours before i got the phone call. so we got a ride back to the airport, and kind people helped get me back home and then immediately to california. this scene was towards the end of all those flights. i breathed deeply again.

as soon as i finished “daddy,” i immediately started in on this piece. they live close together on the wall around my bedroom door.
